Desmond Tutu has left quite the legacy to the world… using his theology background and voice over the years to promote nonviolence in South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement, and his compassion, kindness, and harmony in life are just a few that he will be remembered for.

One of his biggest impacts on me personally was co-writing The Book of Joy with his dear friend, the Dalai Lama, and Douglas Abrams. This book came to me when I needed the most in 2020 and completely helped to shape the framework for this, my life’s purpose of The Joyfilled Seeker.

To honor his life, here are 10 Desmond Tutu quotes from The Book of Joy all about one of his favorite feelings (and mine too!)—joy!

#1: “Discovering more joy…”

#2: “Joy is much bigger…”

#3: “We are fragile creatures…”

#4: “It is one of those…”

#5: “Our greatest joy…”

#6: “[B]e a reservoir…”

#7: “In the end…”

#8: “There are very many…”

#9: “Give the world…”

#10: “We are meant…”
