One of my favorite parts of the end of the year is getting Spotify’s Wrapped playlist.

If you aren’t familiar with this, Spotify puts together a playlist of your most listened to songs of the year.

I cannot tell you how much I love getting to look back and see what songs I had on repeat and listen to a potpourri of my year in music.

Here’s my top 10 joyful songs for 2024. See if there’s any you want to listen to!

#10: “Everywhere, Everything”

Coming in at #10 was Noah Kahan’s “Everywhere, Everything”. Truthfully, it was autumn of this year that I fell hard for Noah’s Stick Season (Forever) album, and “Everywhere, Everything” is one of two of this album’s songs in my top 10 for the year.

#9: “Budding Trees”

After year after year after year of being my most listened to song, I’m happy to see “Budding Trees” still in the top 10. This song is the epitome of joy to me–I even listed in my post on 10 joyful songs!

Listen to the Song:

#8: “Fought & Lost”

2024 was a year that tested me-in ways I never could have imagined.

It was hard. It was messy.

And, one thing I really craved was something stable. Ted Lasso was that for me. I’ve watched it over and over again this past year.

It’s no wonder this song from the show found its way into my top 10 for the year. And it’s so fitting that it’s about climbing back from messy times.

Listen to the Song:

#7: “Root to Rise”

Whenever I find myself in awe of life and this whole existence, I tend to play the song “Root to Rise”. It’s upbeat rhytym, lyrics and message all combine to make it my favorite Kevin Paris song. This song makes me stop and say, “Isn’t life amazing?”- because it is.

Listen to the Song:

#6: “Forever”

Stick Season (Forever) is my favorite to listen to during the month of November when the leaves are gone from the trees, the temperatures are chilly and there’s this sense of quiet and peace in the air before the gatherings happen at the end of the month. The album’s song “Forever” plays between November’s contrasts of solitude and festivities.

Listen to the Song:

#5: “Journey Home”

2024 was a year where I witnessed both my aunt and my father transition over. While grief is considered one of life’s most difficult feelings to experience, I have found myself feeling joy amongst the grief. One song that has helped immensely with this is “Journey Home” by Frieght Train Foxes. My favorite lyric- “The world says goodbye to one of its own. I wish you well on your journey home.”

Listen to the Song:

#4: “blue sky mind”

One of my favorite and best tools in my well-being toolbox is meditation. It works wonders when I practice it consistently. Trevor Hall’s “blue sky mind” reminds me of the joy I feel when I meditate. It’s a short but powerful tune!

Listen to the Song:

#3: “The Places We Will Go”

I have an adventurer’s spirit. I love to explore. I love to wander. I love new places and experiences.

So, it was really hard when I felt my soul really push me to stay put in 2024. And, my mind-at times-had a bit of a fit at the idea of not adventuring far and wide, but near and close.

Marie Hines and Jordan Critz’s “The Places We Will Go” offered me deep comfort in the moments when my mind was feeling a bit restless at the idea of staying close to home. It gives me that sense of wanderlust, of adventure and of hope that adventure will call me once again!

Listen to the Song:

#2: “Oh, What A World”

This song officially gets the “Biggest Surprise”award. I LOVE this song (I even included in on my joy-urney playlist post!), but I truthfully don’t recall listening to it a ton this year, yet it showed up as my second most listened to song for the whole year. Its message of finding wonder in this life is one I resonate with deeply, and I am glad it made it so high on my list!

Listen to the Song:

#1: “Counting My Blessings”

In a year that pushed me, challenged me, and grew me- I love that my top most listened to song was “Counting My Blessings” by Seph Schlueter.

I had to face the unknown a lot this year–often not by choice. But, what grounded me during a year of that airy feeling of unknowing, was gratitude. It was giving thanks for the many, many, many blessings in life. And for that, I am so appreciative that this song is my #1.
