Another month has come and gone, and here we are once again with another Joy + Tell!
These posts are such a joy to write because they are a great way to look for the good parts of the month.
So, here we go with Joy and Tell for April 2025!
#1: Jane Austen Vibes
There’s this subtle (maybe not so subtle…) debate amongst Pride and Prejudice fans about which Pride and Prejudice movie is the best. Usually it falls into two camps, the 1995 version with the dreamy Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy or the 2005 version with the equally dreamy Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy. I am a huge camp #2, 2005 version person. Part of the reason? I simply adore the landscape shots in the film. The Peak District… I mean… how beautiful is this world of ours?
This month I stumbled upon this BBC article all about this very magical part of the UK. Hope you Jane Austen fans out there enjoy it as much as I did! It’s going to make you excited to book a trip to England to tour the very spots that make this novel so iconic.
Oh, also, happy 250th birthday this year to the great author!
#2: A Quiet Background Piece
Released this month is Kacey Musgraves new single, “Sounds from the Heart of the Woods”. A veer from her usual music, this single is instrumental and quite literally takes you to a place of peace, serenity and dreaming amongst the trees. It’s a great piece to have on when you need some background music that isn’t jarring, while you are meditating or simply just want to feel transported to the dear old woodlands.
#3: Swiss Alps Tranquility
As a nearly life-long lover of Rick Steves, I have high expectations when it comes to the travel guides that I watch and trust… and Samantha Brown’s Places to Love has surpassed them. Her show is witty, fun, and just a great overall vibe for when you are wanting to feel that sense of travel and adventure. Earlier this month, I rewatched her episode on the Bern region of Switzerland (one of my favorite places on Earth!), and it took me right back to the natural beauty which makes Switzerland so majestic.
#4: This Performance
I’ve historically not been a huge watcher of reality competition shows, but I’ve been an avid watcher of this season’s The Voice. The contestants seem next level, and I have finally narrowed down my top three. My pick to win it all? Lucia Flores-Wiseman. Her latest performance of The Beatles’ “In My Life” was SO good, and I can’t wait to watch her in the live shows coming up-fingers crossed!
#5: Spring Bulbs
This was the spring I fell completely and madly in love with spring bulbs. Tulips, crocus, daffodils, all of them. They’re a lesson in patience due to needing to plant them in the fall and wait all of winter before even seeing them… but… boy, are they special when they poke up in those early spring days of March and April. After months of cold and snow, they are such a reprieve and such a joy to witness. I fell even more so in love with tulips on my recent trip to Holland this month where the tulips seemed even more magical.
And that’s a wrap on April 2025’s Joy + Tell! What brought you joy this month?
