After an incredibly rainy May, this month saw a bit more sun, a bit more warmth and (truthfully) a bit more joy.

From roses to Broadway hits to revisiting a favorite book from childhood… these are my favs from June.

#1: Smells Like A Rose

You always hear how difficult roses are. And it always made me never think I could grow one. However, when there was an empty garden pot leftover, I found myself in the rose section at the garden greenhouse-and there was the most beautiful light pink rose bush I had ever seen! Soon enough, I had it in my cart, and it was planted in that very pot. It’s certainly been a learning curve, but as Glennon Doyle says… “We can do hard things.”

#2: Anything Goes!

One of my favorite celebrities is Hannah Waddingham. I loved her portrayal of Rebecca character in Ted Lasso. Much like Rebecca-Hannah just oozes self-confidence. Earlier this month, Hannah posted on Instagram her performance from 2024 singing “Anything Goes”. It’s so so so good.

#3: A Hamilton Reunion

While we are the musical front… that Hamilton reunion performance at the Tonys was also so so so good. Such a treat to see these people reunite 10 years later to perform some of our favorite Broadway hits. Hope this is a tradition for every Hamilton anniversary year!

#4: Revisiting a Favorite

Remember that time when you come in from recess, and everyone would settle in for the teacher to do a book read-aloud. I always loved that time of the school day where I just had to sit and listen to the story. As I’ve grown up, I’ve realized this is probably (most definitely) intentional on the teacher’s part to calm us all down from recess before moving into the afternoon lessons. Regardless, I can still remember my favorite read-aloud—it was in fifth grade and it was the book, The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles. This month, I ordered the book to read again for the first time since that elementary school classroom read-aloud, and I’m so excited to dive in. P.S. It’s by Julie Andrews… yes, that Julie Andrews!

#5: Déjà vu Pride and Prejudice

Didn’t we already mention this a couple months ago? Yes, but I just can’t get over how P+P (2005) is turning 20 years old! This movie is such a classic, and I know I’ll still be watching it in 20 years. Anywho, I loved this interview between Kierra Knightly (Elizabeth Bennett) and Rosamund Pike (Jane Bennett) about their reflections of 20 years of such a beloved movie.

Cheers, June 2025!
