Welcome to May’s Joy + Tell!
My inspiration this month? All things Nancy Meyers, my faith, castles and The Voice (again). Quite the eclectic mixture, but one that summed up my favorite month so well.
Hope you enjoy!
#1: Livin’ a Fairytale
Discovered a new show that’s making up for the fact that Escape to the Chateau is no longer making episodes. Running on HGTV (and Max), Castle Impossible follows a young couple from the States as they work to renovate a lovely, beautiful and amazing chateau they inherited outside of Paris. It’s amazing to see what goes on behind the scenes of these spectacular homes in France!
#2: A Faith Journey
I found myself this month really doing a deep dive into my faith and what I believe. Faith is such a personal journey for each person, so please don’t feel like a.) I have it all figured out and b.) that what my faith beliefs are what’s best for you. With that said, it’s been fun to ponder about faith this month and spend some free time learning more. One quote that I returned to is this sweet one by Brené Brown because it just sums up faith and spirituality so incredibly well for me.
#3: The Voice Season Finale
I still am riding high from this season’s finale of The Voice. This was the first season I watched the show the whole way through… even had to the app to play along! And while it was such a joyful part of my week, it was also a commitment. To figure out your favorites, who you believe would make it the playoffs, the lives, the semis, the finale… phew! I won’t give any spoilers, but this season (+ finale) was filled to the brim with talent, and I’m so happy for the winner.
One of my favorite performances on the finale was this one by Lucia Flores-Wiseman with her coach Adam Levine. SO. GOOD. And makes me want to jam out to the Fab Four for the rest of the week.
#4: Nancy Meyers Vibes
I’ve been falling in love with lovely tunes this month. Finding the right music to encompass the life I’m living has brought me pure delight. One music vibe that I have been loving is Nancy Meyers playlists.
The woman behind Father of the Bride, The Parent Trap, Somethings Gotta Give and The Holiday, Nancy Meyers has created beloved classics. One reason they are classic? They all have a similar feel that just brings such a sense of beauty and peacefulness in their overarching story lines, set designs, costume designs and mood.
Spotify has a plethora of Nancy Meyers inspired playlists, but here’s one that I have been loving this month.
#5: Stylin’
To wrap up this month (and continue on with the Nancy Meyers theme), I have found myself feeling really into style lately. If you follow me over on Pinterest, you probably have seen that I’ve been pinning outfits like crazy. It’s really been bringing me a lot of joy! Nancy Meyers-esque outfits in particular. They just scream simple and comfortable yet timeless. Ideas are also all over Pinterest, and here’s just one of my favs of that classic feminine look.
What brought you joy this month?
