As we hit the end of Women’s History Month this week, I am left with such a reminder about the power of being a woman in this world.

And how we all stand on the shoulders of the women generations before.

For me, I look towards my grandmother in particular. A woman who lost her own mother and grew up in an orphanage. Who refused to let her humble beginnings dictate the rest of her life and ended up getting a job and being the person whose savings paid for the downpayment on the house her and my grandad bought. A lady who, despite not growing up in a loving environment herself, raised her six kids in a house filled with love. And showered her grandkids with love when they came along.

A woman who, despite everything she went through, was the most beautiful mixture of gentleness and strength.

She’s one of the women who I look to for guidance on what it means to be a woman in this world.

And it’s because of women like her that I am able to be the woman I am today.

Here’s to the women who came before us. Thank you.

A Joyful Year
