There’s something so joyful about flowers. When we see them, receive them, or give them, they really do just bring up such a light feeling for everyone involved!
Something that I loved over the past few years is how my mom makes such an effort to have fresh flowers in her kitchen every single week. Thinking about it, flowers bring such a sense of goodness within us when we see them, why only save them for special occasions?
Without further ado, here are 10 flowers that symbolize joy!
The Symbolism of Flowers:
In the past few years, I picked up a used copy of the book, The Meaning of Flowers, which goes into, as their subtitle says, “the myth, language & lore” of flowers. It’s a quick, little, easy reference book, but it is certainly fun to learn about the symbolism that different flowers hold (If you want a longer reference, I liked, The Complete Language of Flowers and Floriography). It’s been fun to learn more about the symbolism different flowers hold!
According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, giving meanings to flowers has been around for hundreds of years, but really gained its prominence during the Victorian time period. Actually, flowers were used as a sort of “secret language” during that era!
It is certainly all for fun, but it would be neat to incorporate some flowers that signify joy into your life if you’ve been wanting to invite that feeling into your life more!
