A testament to living with joy, Desmond Tutu used his theology background and his voice over the years to promote nonviolence in South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement, compassion, kindness, humility and harmony in life— among so much more.
One of his biggest impacts on me personally was co-writing The Book of Joy with his dear friend, the Dalai Lama, and Douglas Abrams. This book came to me when I needed the most in 2020 and completely helped to shape the framework for this, my life’s purpose of The Joyfilled Seeker.
To honor this simply wonderful man, here are 10 Desmond Tutu quotes from The Book of Joy all about one of his favorite feelings (and mine too!)—joy!
