I started these Joy and Tell posts just about a month ago, and they have quickly become one of my favorite parts of the week. And I so look forward to continuing them in the new year.

This week’s Joy and Tell is all about celebrating the holidays ahead and wrapping up the year 2024.

Here’s the final Joy and Tell for this year.

#1: A Sweet Beginning for a Christmas Song

Sometimes the algorithm can be so spot on!

It recommended this short little video all about the humble beginnings of one of the most beloved Christmas songs in history, “Silent Night”.

Amazing how this little song simply played for a church one Christmas Eve has morphed into a song that has had countless covers-the most of any Christmas song!

One of my favorite Christmas commercials ever (based on a true story) is this one which features this very song.

#2: The Gift that Keeps Giving (at least for 17 Days)

This weekend kicks off some of the best sports for us sports nuts. From the College Football Playoffs starting tonight through early January marks some of the best sports has to offer.

What I’m looking forward to the most… Premier League football/soccer has 40 matches being played over 17 days.

To all of us out there who love the beautiful game-a great couple of weeks lie ahead.

I can’t wait.

#3: A Cozy Book To Read During The Holidays

Need a good book to check out during the week before New Year’s?

One of my all-time favorites is the nonfiction book of The Little Book of Hygge. It’s literally like a how-to for coziness. When the new year hits and all the Christmas decorations start coming down-you may just find yourself making your space hygge-conducing!

As a bonus, the author is coming out with his new book, The Art of Danish Living, all about finding joy in the workplace on December 31st! I’m looking forward to diving into it.

#4: Thank you, 2024

Perhaps my favorite YouTube video to watch every December is when Google releases their “Year in Search” video for the year. And this year’s video is just special.

Thank you, 2024. May we take what we learned from your lessons with us into the new year.

#5: 2025, in the Stars

Looking into the year 2025, consider taking some time to jot down these astronomical events in the coming year.

Starting with a Saturn+Venus Conjunction in January and ending with meteor showers next December… this year ahead is sure to be awe-producing.

Let’s spark that wonder and check out the night skies this next year.

May your holidays be bright, and may the new year bring you joy. See you in 2025!
